North American Niobium Staked a Carbonatite in Québec's REE Belt
North American Niobium and Critical Minerals Corp. (CSE: NIOB) just planted a flag on some serious geology. The company staked the Kanawata Property, roughly 50 km south of Wemotaci in Québec's Mauricie region, deep inside the Grenville Province.
So what is it? Kanawata covers an interpreted ijolite-carbonatite alkaline intrusion — the exact geological class that hosts the world-class Oka and Niobec niobium-REE complexes elsewhere in Québec. That is the address you want if you are hunting niobium and rare earths.
The upside case is straightforward. An initial reconnaissance program of geological mapping and sampling is planned, and a hit would light up a district-scale niobium-REE story right as Western governments scramble for domestic critical-mineral supply. Kanawata expands NIOB's portfolio into that strategic tailwind.
The bear case: this is grassroots ground with no drilling yet — an interpreted intrusion is a target, not a discovery, and reconnaissance can just as easily disappoint.
Still, staking carbonatite in the right belt is how these stories start.
